Overview

Sage Therapy & Consulting is a practice rooted in Indigenous traditions, focused on healing at the individual, family, and community level. The goal of this project was to create a brand that honored that lineage — grounded in meaning, symbolism, and cultural integrity — while also feeling open, inclusive, and approachable to a broad, diverse audience. My role was to develop a full visual identity and strategic foundation that reflected the client’s deep connection to heritage, community-building, and holistic healing.

Challenge

The brand needed to carry forward Indigenous values and visual language without limiting its ability to welcome people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. The design had to be deeply intentional — rooted in tradition, but still accessible, modern, and flexible enough to support the practice’s evolving community work.

Approach

We started with a strategy session that went far beyond visuals — focusing on cultural storytelling, lineage, and the emotional landscape the brand needed to convey. From there, we explored symbology, color theory, and semiotics from Indigenous traditions, incorporating the client’s specific ancestral references and vision.

The final identity system draws from rich earthy pigments — colors chosen to evoke grounding, warmth, and familiarity across cultures. Every design element — from logo composition to negative space — was built with meaning, reflecting themes of knowledge-sharing, community care, and healing across generations.

Outcome

The finished brand feels like an extension of the client’s mission: rooted, inclusive, and authentic. The identity is more than visual — it’s a vessel for storytelling and connection. The client shared that the work helped clarify their goals and brought focus to their message, creating alignment within their team and confidence in how they show up publicly. The result is a brand that reflects both heritage and hospitality — and provides a solid foundation for the future.
